Technologies for Licensing
Services: PT internally develops and owns technologies available for licensing to industrial clients. In the case of technology licensing, PT will:
  • Provide a regional and/or application specific, exclusive, limited term, renewable, technology license (terms to be negotiated.)
  • Provide application specific technology transfer documentation.
  • Negotiate service agreements for management and/or support of full-scale technology implementation (i.e.: facilities design, construction and commissioning), if required.
  • Provide training of the licensee’s staff, if required.
  • Negotiate long-term service agreements related to QA/QC and marketing/technical support, if required.

The Project Process: in the event a client is interested licensing one of PT’s technologies, the following project process is typically employed:
  1. Feasibility Study: laboratory assessment designed to evaluate technology compatibility with the prospective licensee’s materials and/or business interests. Feasibility studies are generally less than 3 months in duration and nominal fees are charged to cover testing costs. Information released at this stage is non-proprietary in nature and is only sufficient for technology evaluation, not technology implementation.

  2. Conceptual Facilities Engineering (if required): in the event of a favorable feasibility study, conceptual facilities design and budgetary capital cost estimates are prepared for those technologies requiring such work (note: some materials technologies may not require this work or the prospective licensee may already possess sufficient production capability). Conceptual engineering generally requires less than 3 months in duration and nominal fees are charged to cover engineering costs. Conceptual Engineering may be performed by PT or another member of the Pildysh Group of Companies. Information released at this stage is non-proprietary in nature and is only sufficient for capital cost evaluation, not technology implementation.

  3. Technology Transfer: in the event of a favorable feasibility study and accepted conceptual engineering, technology disclosure documents are prepared, which contain proprietary information required for implementation. PT and the prospective licensee sign a Letter of Understanding related to technology licensing and Confidentiality and Non-Circumvention/Non-Disclosure Agreements. Following execution of these agreements, the technology disclosure documents are released to the prospective licensee.

  4. Licensing: PT and the prospective licensee negotiate and transfer the technology license, which will include, at minimum, the following terms: scope, duration and consideration.

  5. Technology Implementation (if required): the licensee proceeds with technology implementation which typically includes the following stages, if required:
    1. Detailed Engineering: of the commercial production facility. The licensee may choose to undertake detailed engineering or PT may manage this process under an alternate service agreement at the licensee’s request.
    2. Construction: of the commercial production facility. The licensee may choose to undertake construction or PT may manage this process under an alternate service agreement at the licensee’s request.
    3. Commissioning and Training: of the licensee’s staff, which is performed by PT if we manage the previous technology implementation stages.

  6. Long-Term Services (if required): PT can provide the following long-term services under separate service agreements:
    1. QA/QC Management.
    2. Marketing/Technical Support.

Technologies Currently Available for Licensing: Terra-Bond™: a patented cementing technology designed to either:
  • convert sulphur and finely divided, non-hazardous solid waste materials into synthetic aggregate for construction applications.

  • convert sulphur and finely divided, hazardous solid wastes into stable, discrete, encapsulated pellets for long-term containment or disposal.
